Rs. 1,388 million allocated to develop Kalutara district hospitals

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senarathne requested the provincial Health Ministers to properly use the money allocated for the development of the provincial council hospitals.

He pointed out that the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council has developed the hospitals coming under the council in a proper way using the money allocated for 2016 while the Western Provincial Council proceed with that task very slowly.

The minister was addressing a meeting at the District Secretariat in Kalutara.

During the meeting it was revealed that the development activities carried out in nine provincial council hospitals in Kalutara District have already been finished. Health minister instructed the Western Province Health Minister Sumith Lal Mendis to finish the development activities of other hospitals in the district by August.

In 2016, about Rs. 1,388 million have been allocated to develop the hospitals in Kalutara District. The minister said that any hospital coming under the purview of the provincial councils will not be taken over by the central government.
