Voters may apply to vote at other polling centres

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Elections Commission says voters who have a reasonable fear of voting at polling centres assigned to them can apply to vote at another polling centres.

The Commission stated the relevant applications could be obtained from all District Returning Officers, Divisional Secretariats and Grama Niladhari Offices.

All voters who are reasonably afraid to cast their ballot should submit their applications to the Director General of Elections before the 25th of September.

The Election Commission added it was compulsory that the application included the applicants National Identity Card number of the applicant certified by the Grama Niladhari.

All applications without the certification of the Grama Niladhari will be rejected.
