(UTV|COLOMBO) – A convicted prisoner at the Galle Prison had committed suicide by hanging in his cell on Tuesday (17). The prisoner, identified as Denzil Premarathna (38), was from Uturu Magala, Uragasmanhandiya and bore Prisoner Identification Number 5119.
The deceased was convicted for attempted murder by the Galle High Court.
The body was sent to Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital where the post-mortem is scheduled following the Magisterial inquest which was to be held today evening (18).
