Earthslips, fallen trees cause traffic congestion along Norton Bridge road

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Earth-slips and fallen trees have affected transportation along the Norton Bridge main road due to heavy winds and rains experienced in the Central region since yesterday (Sept 15).

Police said that two trees had fallen across the road this morning. Accordingly, an operation is underway to remove the earth and trees which have been obstructing vehicular movement along the road.

Meanwhile, police have urged the public to avoid using the Norton Bridge main road since earthslips could occur while trees too could fall across the road if the inclement weather persists.

High voltage electricity supply lines too have been damaged as a result of the fallen trees.
