Elpitiya Local Council election: Polling cards to be distributed

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Elections Commission says preparation to distribute polling cards for the Elpitiya Local Council (PS\LC) election is currently underway.

Speaking to a prominent online news portal, a Commission Spokesman however said a final date on when polling cards will be distributed to residencies is yet to be determined.

A meeting of Election Commission members is due to be held on the 20th of September, at which several relevant matters including a date to commence distribution will be decided on.

Meanwhile it was decided to refrain from extending the date to submit applications for postal voting for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha election.

Galle Returning Officer Somaratne Vidanapathirana said over 1,700 postal voting applications had been received as of midnight.

The Elections Commission yesterday said postal voting for the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha Election will likely take place on the 27th of September.
