Supreme Court rejects Gota’s petition

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Supreme Court today rejected a petition filed by former defence secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa against hearing of the D.A. Rajapaksa museum case at the Special High Court.

The case was filed against Mr. Rajapaksa and six others over the alleged misappropriation of Rs. 33.9 million by building a D. A. Rajapaksa museum.

On an earlier occasion, the Supreme Court directed the Special High Court to stop hearing further evidence over the case till October 1, 2019, while the Supreme Court decides on the appeal made by the defence in this case over the jurisdiction of the Special High Court to hear the case.

On august 30, the Special High Court decided to continue hearing evidence over the case on daily basis from October 15, 2019.
