Afternoon thundershowers to lash Sri Lanka; Public urged to be vigilant

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Department of Meteorology forecasted that afternoon thundershowers are expected in several areas during next few days.

Accordingly, there is a high possibility for afternoon thundershowers particularly in Eastern, Uva, North-Central Provinces, and in Vavuniya and Mullaitivu Districts.

Therefore, Meteorology Department urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning activity as the possibility for afternoon thundershowers is high over the island.

Furthermore, showers or thundershowers will occur today (10) at several places in Eastern, Uva, North-Central and Central Provinces, and in Vavuniya, Mullaitivu Districts after 2.00 this evening, while several spells of light showers will occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-Western Provinces.
