President agrees to meet PSC on Easter Sunday attacks

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena has agreed to meet the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) investigating the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.

PSC Chairman, Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri stated that the President has agreed to meet the PSC but said details such as the location, date and time of the meeting were yet to be finalized.

The Committee sent a letter to the President in mid-August asking him to give a date convenient for him to testify before the PSC.

All but one of the witnesses who have been called before the PSC thus far have testified before the Committee in Parliament. The lone exception was State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Nilantha Jayawardena, who gave evidence before the PSC at a closed-door session held at a location outside Parliament.
