550Kg of beedi leaves found during Naval operations in Iranativu

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Navy recovered a haul of beedi leaves during search operations conducted on the Iranativu Island yesterday (02).

The North-Central Naval Command, during a foot patrol carried out in the beach area of the Iranativu Island on 01 September found 2 packages of beedi leaves. Following the seizure of those 2 packages the Navy intensified its operations and found another 6 packages of beedi leaves.

Accordingly, the North-Central Naval Command, during search operations conducted both days, have recovered a total of 550 kilogrammes of beedi leaves. The consignment will be handed over to the Jaffna Customs for onward investigation.
