Rainy start to September

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Department of Meteorology forecasted that light to severe rain is likely to occur at several places over Sri Lanka today (02).

Accordingly, showers or thundershowers are expected to occur today at several places in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-Western Provinces, while several spells of light showers may occur in Anuradhapura and Mannar Districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva Province and in Ampara and Batticaloa Districts after 2.00 this evening.

Meteorology Department further stated that the wind speed can be increase up to 50 kilometres per hour at times in Northern, North-Central Provinces, and in Puttalam, Trincomalee, Hambantota and Nuwara Eliya Districts.
