Wennappuwa PS member, sister further remanded until Sept. 06

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha member and her sister have been further remanded until September 06 for obstructing the duties of Police officers recently.

The order was issued by the Marawila Magistrate’s court today (Aug 30).

According to the police, the Pradeshiya Sabha member identified as Chamodhari Fernando, 23, along with her father and sister had obstructed the duties of police officers who had pulled over their sister on a motorcycle at a roadblock.

Police noted that the woman had been travelling without a valid license.

The father of the accused identified as Ashok Kumar Fernando had previously been released on a surety bail of Rs 300,000 while another sister aged 16 had also been produced to Court.

Earlier this month, Police had released a video footage of the incident to the media.
