Army intelligence officer arrested over Keith Noyahr’s abduction case

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Army Intelligence officer Staff Sergeant Chamitha Sumith Kumara has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over the abduction and assault of journalist Keith Noyahr in 2008.

The arrest had been made in line with the instructions issued by Attorney General (AG) Dappula de Livera, State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, Co-ordinating Secretary to the AG said.

Yesterday, the CID submitted a report on six high profile cases including that of Keith Noyahr’s abduction, to the AG’s Department.

Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara told reporters yesterday that the investigations into the abduction and assault of the journalist could be completed within the next two months.
