SLFP-SLPP to continue talks with a new look

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Sri Lanka Freedom Party says discussions with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna will get underway once again on Monday with a new outlook.

Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo, General Secretary of the United People’s Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Mahinda Amaraweera said changes have been made to the group of SLFP representatives who joined the six previous rounds of talks.

General Secretary of the SLFP MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, former General Secretary Professor Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa and MP Thilanga Sumathipala joined the previous discussions held with the Podujana Peramuna.

However from Monday only MPs Dayasiri Jayasekara, Lasantha Alagiyawanna and UPFA General Secretary Mahinda Amaraweera will attend the talks.

Commenting on the next Presidential Election, MP Amaraweera noted the Cabinet will not exceed 30 Ministries under any circumstance.

The Parliamentarian said the Ministries will be divided under a scientific method.

MP Mahinda Amaraweera further noted a new electoral system will also be introduced under a SLFP administration.

The MP said the new system will prevent criminals from contesting elections, and reduce the costs incurred during elections.
