Outgoing Commander promoted

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The outgoing Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake has been promoted to the rank of General by President Maithripala Sirisena, effective from 17 August.

He was the 22nd Commander of the Army.

President Sirisena in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces handed over the letter of appointment of the 23rd Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva at the President’s Secretariat yesterday (19).
