Ready for regional flight operations by mid-October

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Palali Airport which is under construction at the moment will be ready for regional flight operations by the middle of October, an official said yesterday.

Vice-Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services Ltd Priyantha Kariyapperuma has stated to a prominent online news portal that the construction work is well underway for the development of the airport for civilian passenger flights. He said work on the terminal building, the airport apron, the control tower and the taxiway was in progress at the moment.

He said the airport would be developed for the operation of civilian air crafts with 80 passengers on board.

“It will be used as a regional airport,” he said.
