Public urged to take protective measures during windy weather

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Department of Meteorology requested general public to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning since the possibility for afternoon thundershowers is high particularly in Northern, North-Central, and Eastern Provinces.

Meanwhile, showers will occur today (17) at times in Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, and in Jaffna, Mannar and Killinochchi Districts.

Several spells of showers will occur in Western Province and in Galle and Matara Districts, the Meteorology Department stated, adding that showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 this morning.

Furthermore, fairly heavy falls above 50 millimetres are likely at some places in Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Central, and Uva Provinces.
