Easter attacks PSC decides against interim report

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Parliament Select Committee investigating the Easter Sunday attacks has decided not to submit an interim report.

Chairman of the Select Committee Deputy Speaker of House Ananda Kumarasiri said the need to submit an interim report has not arisen as the evidence hearings have reached the final stage.

The Deputy Speaker said the main purpose behind proposing an extension of the term of the Select Committee to the Speaker of House by a month was also to compile the final report.

Meanwhile Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri noted a final decision has not been reached pertaining to requesting President Maithripala Sirisena to appear before the Select Committee.

The Deputy Speaker further noted a final decision had not been reached regarding the Select Committee convening on the 20th of August as well.
