Navy assists to nab 2 drug traffickers

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Navy in coordination with Police STF, apprehended two persons with Kerala Cannabis during a raid carried out at Nupe area in Matara yesterday (12).

Accordingly, two suspicious persons have been observed near the railway crossing at Nupe junction, during a raid conducted by Southern Naval Command in coordination with Police STF at kokmaduwa. By further search, 540g of KG was found in their possession and accordingly the two persons were apprehended.

The amount of KG was set for sale at the time of apprehension and the suspects are residents of Nupewella area in Matara, aged 26 and 27. The suspects along with the KG were handed over to Matara Police for onward action.

By the raids carried out by the Navy during the past few days, number of drug traffickers as well as drugs have been seized and Navy continues with such raids in a bid to eradicate drug menace from the island.
