“State Intelligence Service report didn’t identify NTJ as terrorist organisation” – Minister Sagala

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A State Intelligence Service (SIS) report presented in November 2016 did not identify the National Thawheed Jamath (NTJ) as an organisation engaging in terrorist activities but as an entity promoting extremist religious views, Minister Sagala Ratnayaka told the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) appointed to probe the Easter Sunday attacks yesterday (06).

He said the report consisted of information that the NTJ followers were spreading extremist religious views using websites and social media.

“We had no reports that they were planning suicide attacks or engaged in manufacturing of bombs at that time,” he stressed.
