(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Supreme Court has decided to hear the Fundamental Rights petition filed by the doctor attached to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital on the 27th of September.
The order was issued by a three-member bench consisting Justices Sisira De Abrew, Prasanna Jayawardena and Vijith Malalgoda.
The petition was filed citing that his fundamental rights were violated by his arrest and subsequent detainment.
The Acting Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General and the Deputy Inspector General of the Kurunegala District have been cited as respondents in the case.
The petition was filed by the doctor on the 25th of June on five counts.
The petitioned attorney informed Court today that steps will be taken to table other documentation and the amendment of certain facts cited in the Fundamental Rights petition.
