‘Ali Roshan’ granted bail

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Permanent High Court-at-Bar on Friday (02) granted bail to Niraj Roshan alias ‘Ali Roshan’ and 7 others over the case filed over alleged illegal possession of elephants.

Accordingly, the 8 suspects were released under a cash bail of Rs. 25,000 and 2 personal bails of Rs. 5 million each.

The Special High Court ordered to take up the case again on 30 August.

Roshan was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for engaging in the illegal elephant trade and were later remanded by the Colombo High Court.

He is charged with capturing elephant calves in an inhumane manner from forests and selling them for profit to high-profile individuals.
