4,390 criminal case probes concluded – Attorney General

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Department of the Attorney General says investigations into 4,390 criminal cases have concluded over the past seven months.

The Attorney General’s Coordinating Officer- Senior State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said 2,901 cases have been directed to High Courts.

The Attorney General has also issued written directives to the Police pertaining to 1,247 investigations.

The Senior State Counsel added the Attorney General has directed the Police to release 242 suspects who are presently in custody.
