President pledges not to privatise State Banks

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Measures should be taken to strengthen State Banks but not to privatise them, President Maithripala Sirisena emphasised.

He stated that it is his continued policy.

The President made these comments at a ceremony to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Bank of Ceylon (BOC) held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) yesterday (30).

Addressing the gathering, the President further stressed the pitiful situation at State Institutes which generate income to the Government created by corruption, inefficient management and despotic activities of trade unions is an open secret.
