Navy renders assistance to apprehend drug traffickers in Bangadeniya

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Navy in coordination with the Special Task Force (STF) conducted an operation to crackdown on drug peddlers and those who use substances at Bangadeniya in Chilaw yesterday (29).

This search operation was conducted in Bangadeniya locality by Naval Personnel attached to the North-Western Naval Command and Officials of STF in Puttalam.

During this operation troops intercepted a motorbike ridden by a suspicious person. However, the motorcyclist had escaped the scene leaving his motorbike behind. During further search, the Navy managed to find 190 grams of Kerala cannabis hidden in the bike. It is believed that the suspect might have carried cannabis to sell. The seized Kerala cannabis and motorbike were handed over to the Chilaw Police for onward investigation.
