Serkis, Knight, Wyatt up for “Venom 2”

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Travis Knight (“Bumblebee”), Rupert Wyatt (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”) and actor-turned-filmmaker Andy Serkis (“Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle”) are all in contention to take the helm of the “Venom” sequel.

Serkis was reportedly in Los Angeles this week for face-to-face meetings with Sony about the possibility, though the other two are in the mix as well. Whomever steps in will replace Ruben Fleischer who directed the first feature.

Serkis worked as a second unit director throughout Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit” trilogy and made his directorial debut on “Breathe”. Sony is reportedly aiming to begin filming the “Venom” follow-up in November.
