Three Avant-Garde suspects before Court today

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Three suspects arrested over the Avant Garde case are due to be produced before the Galle Magistrate’s Court once again today.

The trio include Former Chairman of Rakna Arakshaka Lanka Ltd. Victor Samaraweera, Former top official Major General Palitha Fernando and Former Chief Executive Officer Karunaratne Egodawela.

Additionally, Police said submissions pertaining to National Police Commission Secretary Saman Dissanayake who was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department yesterday will be presented in Court today.

Accordingly four of the eight suspects in the case have been arrested by the CID thus far. Three of the suspects were arrested while they were admitted to the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile Police have confirmed the remaining four suspects including Avant Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi have fled the country.

Police Media Spokesman, Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara said the CID will take the necessary measures regarding the remaining four suspects upon the Attorney General’s advice.
