Rs. 95 million through excise raids in 2019

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Excise Department has acquired a total of 95 million rupees through fines imposed on various perpetrators during the past six months.

In a statement the Department said it seized goods worth 1.35 billion rupees including stocks of alcohol and narcotic drugs in 2019.

A total of 24,150 persons including 2,131 females have been apprehended during raids carried out by various Excise Department units.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Excise Kapila Kumarasinghe the number of illegal acts has seen a decreased during the past six months.
