“Death penalty is unconventional in modern world” – Dilan Perera

(UTV|COLOMBO) – United People’s Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Dilan Perera says imposing the death penalty is not a conventional method in the modern world.

Speaking to media MP Perera said drug pedlars should be sentenced to life imprisonment, instead of being issued the death penalty.

He stressed however that drug dealers must be given the sternest punishment, adding the death penalty can be imposed not once but twice even, yet it is not enforced anywhere.

Therefore he said life imprisonment can be imposed instead with rigorous work, adding they should be made to work rigorously, so that come to believe that the death penalty would have been better option.
