Suspect arrested with cigarettes worth Rs.1.3M

(UTV|COLOMBO) – An individual who attempted to illegally smuggle in a stock of foreign cigarettes worth Rs.1.3 million has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

UTV News airport correspondent said Customs officers found the individual to have carefully concealed 28,000 cigarettes in his luggage.

The 42 year old suspect, who arrived from Dubai, is a businessman from Kurunegala.

The Airport Customs is conducting further investigations.
