Three suspects arrested for stealing iron from Hambantota Harbour

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Navy with the assistance of the Police recently carried out a joint raid to arrest 3 suspects who were transporting iron from the Hambantota Harbour premises by illegal means.

Accordingly, a group of Naval Personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command and Hambantota Police conducted this special operation and arrested these suspects for illegally taking away 1,500 kilogrammes of iron by a lorry. The suspects are residents of Ambalantota and Hambantota areas, from 23 to 39 years of age.

The arrested persons along with seized iron and lorry were handed over to the Hambantota Police for onward legal action.
