“Promoting peace and coexistence is important than Ministerial portfolios” – Rishad

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Leader of the All Ceylon Makkal Congress (ACMC), Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen on Monday (08) emphasised that the country and promoting peace and coexistence is more important for him than his Ministerial portfolios.

He made this remarks following a discussion between Muslim Ministers who resigned from their portfolios and President Maithripala Sirisena.

Former Ministers met the President yesterday to discuss several issues pertaining to the Muslim community.

“We all quit our Ministries because there should be peace and harmony in this country, and it is more important for us than our Ministerial portfolios,” Bathiudeen stated.

“Despite the State of Emergency, some people continue to violate its limits and harassing innocent people,” the former Minister stressed that the law should be same for everyone.

“We say all those who were involved in the acts of terror should be punished. Yet certain groups’ that disturbs peace and coexistence in this country continues their duties, and their acts go unpunished,” he noted.
