Former Defence Sec. and IGP granted bail

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Hemasiri Fernando and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara, have been released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The Court imposed a surety bail of Rs. 500,000 on each.

Fernando and Jayasundara were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) while receiving treatments respectively at the National Hospital in Colombo and the Police Hospital in Narahenpita on 02 July.

Both were given notice to appear before the CID to record statements over the Easter Sunday attacks prior to the arrests.
