Smart parking cards replace stickers in Sharjah

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Sharjah Municipality has started replacing parking stickers that had to be displayed on the car’s front glass with smart parking cards.

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, director of public parking at the municipality, said that the civic body is making huge efforts to provide smart ways to collect parking fees.

“The department has started developing a new method which will do away with the parking stickers,” he pointed out, adding, it has decided to implement the virtual subscription system. The parking stickers on the front glass of the vehicles will be removed and the process will be converted to an electronic one by linking the vehicle numbers through the subscription. “The employee shall enter the number of the vehicle on his device to see all the car details.”

Ghazin said that this smart method will cut time as well as effort and reduce the percentage of violations resulting from the failure to put the sticker properly or to highlight it.

The new smart system will get all the records and details of the vehicle and the type of subscription required. The system will inform the inspectors that the vehicle has a subscription until a particular date and its authorised areas for parking. It will send an alert message to the customer before the end of the subscription period, to remind him of the date of renewal. (khaleejtimes)
