Kalutara prison bus shooting: ‘Battaramulle Bunty’ remanded

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The underworld figure that was taken into custody in connection with the Kalutara prison bus shooting has been remanded till the 28th of March.

The suspect –  Kuruppuge Chathuranga Pushpakumara Mendis alias ‘Battaramula Bunty’ was remanded after being produced before the Kalutara Magistrates’ court today (21st March)

The underworld figure had been in hiding until he was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) on Tuesday (21st March)

The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) in a statement released stated that the suspect had divulged information pertaining to the planning and execution of the ambush.

Other reports meanwhile suggested that the underworld leader ‘Angoda Lokka’ planned the attack to abduct Samayan, but noticing he was severely injured during the attack decided to execute him.

The attack on the Kalutara prison bus on February 27th left 7 people, including two prison officials dead.
