“Expedite probe against those in custody over Easter Sunday terror attacks” – President

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed relevant Officials to expedite investigations against those who are in custody under Terrorism Prevention Act for minor offences related to Easter Sunday terror attacks and release those who are found innocent.

President Sirisena gave these instructions when the National Security Council convened at the Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday (19).

Security arrangements and the prevailing situation in the country were discussed at a length during the meeting and the process to ensure the national security was also reviewed.

President emphasised the importance of continuing the current security arrangements that are in place at places of worship.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and several other Ministers, Secretary of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of Tri-Forces, Intelligence Officers, Inspector General of Police (IGP) were among those who were present at the Council meeting.
