Winds and showers likely to continue

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Windy condition over the island and showery condition in the South-Western part is likely to continue during next few days, the Department of Meteorology stated on Friday (21).

Met. Department forecasted that there is a high possibility to occur strong gusty winds up to 50 – 60 kilometres per hour in Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva, North-Western and North-Central Provinces, and in Trincomalee District, while fairly strong gusty winds up to 40 – 50 kilometres per hour elsewhere.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern Provinces, while several spells of showers will occur in North-Western Province and in Anuradhapura District.

Furthermore, heavy falls about 100 millimetres can be expected at some places, in Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and in Kalutara and Matara Districts, while fairly heavy falls about 50 millimetres can also be expected at some places, in Colombo, Galle and Gampaha Districts.
