Public facing issues due to election delay -UPFA

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian (MP) Indika Anuruddha says the public is facing many issues due to the delay in holding Local Government (LG) elections.

Speaking in Parliament yesterday MP Anuruddha said responsibility must be taken for deaths caused by Dengue.

MP Indika Anuruddha said the government must take responsibility for the deaths caused due to dengue irrespective of race or religion.

MP Anuruddha said as the Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils, saying the delay in holding local government elections is due to delimitation, is the reason that this mountain of Garbage in Meethotamulla has increased three fold.

Meanwhile Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Mustapha says issues pertaining to appropriate garbage disposal must be solved in order to see a shift in the general public’s attitude.

Minister Mustapha said the government must first be dedicated to changing the general public’s attitude, if the government is to collect garbage in a specific place for recycling purposes.

The Minister said the process does not have any impact on health or society by using new technologies for recycling.

Minister Mustapha said all must unite in order to change the public’s attitude and take recycling in this country towards necessary standards.
