North and South to experience wind and rain next few days

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Prevailing windy condition, particularly over the Northern half of the island and showery condition in the South-Western Part of the country is likely to enhance to some extent during next few days, the Department of Meteorology stated.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Southern, Central, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western Provinces on Thursday (13), while heavy falls about 100 millimetres can be expected at some places, particularly in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces, and in Galle and Matara Districts.

Several spells of light showers may occur in Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Batticaloa, and Badulla Districts, the Met. Department stressed, adding that strong gusty winds up to 60 kilometres per hour are likely in Northern, North-Central and North-Western Provinces, and in Trincomalee, Matale and Hambantota Districts.

Furthermore, fairly strong gusty winds up to 50 kilometres per hour are likely in the other parts of the island.
