Release suspects arrested for minor offences – PM

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has issued directives for officials to explore the possibility of promptly granting bail to persons arrested for minor offences, following the Easter Sunday attacks.

The Prime Minister had issued these directives during a meeting held yesterday with top Police officials and representatives of the Attorney General’s Department.

The Prime Ministers Office stated Minister of Foreign Affairs Tilak Marapana and Minister of Justice Thalatha Athukorala attended the meeting.

The Prime Minister however had also stressed for those found directly guilty of terrorism, to be detained and prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law.
