PCOI on Easter attacks ends investigations

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday attacks has concluded investigations.

Accordingly the Presidential Secretariat today informed Parliament the report based on the findings is currently being compiled.

Responding to an inquiry by Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake under Standing Orders Chief Government Whip Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka said the Committee informed that the report will be handed over to President Maithripala Sirisena promptly upon its compilation.

Meanwhile Minister Karunathilaka noted further legal action is expected to be initiated after the final report is presented to the Attorney General.

The Minister stressed as a measure to curb the spread of false information Media Spokesmen of the Defence Forces and the Police conduct daily media briefings to update the prevailing security situation of the country.
