Over 19,000 dengue cases in 5-months

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A total of 18760 dengue cases and 28 dengue deaths had been reported from all parts of the country within this year by the end of last month, the Epidemiology Unit said.

It is reported that the highest number of dengue cases, 4066 had been reported from the Colombo district while the second highest number, 2480 had been reported from the Gampaha district.

The third highest number of dengue cases, 1887 had been reported from the Jaffna district.

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) reported a total of 799 dengue cases during the same period. The other parts of the Colombo district recorded a total of 3267 dengue cases. The total number of dengue cases reported from the Western Province is 7833. A total of 5576 dengue patients had been reported from the country in January.

A total of 2795 dengue patients reported from all parts of the country last month, the epidemiologists said.
