(UTV|COLOMBO) – During a joint search conducted by the Navy and Police Special Task Force (STF), a person was arrested with 239 unauthorised fishing nets in Maharoof area, Kinniya on Tuesday (04).
Naval Personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command in coordination with the STF Personnel of Shardapura carried out the search and arrested the suspect who made ready the stock of unauthorised fishing nets to sell. Among the seized items are 114 nets (Each is 50 metres in length) and 125 nets (Each is 100 metres in length).
The arrested persons along with the unauthorised fishing nets were handed over to the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries in Trincomalee for onward action.
