Three remanded over 2018 Thalawa bank robbery

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Three suspects arrested in connection to the theft of cash and jewellery worth Rs.162.5 million from a bank in Thalawa last year has been remanded till the 12th of June.

Police yesterday informed Court that upon investigations it was revealed that the three suspects arrested with a stock of Marijuana was linked to the bank theft.

The discovery was made following investigations launched by police into the incident based on information received and telephone data. The suspects are aged 27, 36 and 40 years of age.

An Army deserter and an individual who legitimately left the Air Force service are among the suspects.

Police had meanwhile seized a stock of jewellery and three luxury motor vehicles purchased by the suspects following the robbery.

Further investigations into the incident have been launched by the Thalawa Police.
