(UTV|COLOMBO) – The official James Bond Twitter account has shared an update on “Bond 25” star Daniel Craig, confirming reports last week of an ankle injury.
In fact they go as far as to say Craig is undergoing minor ankle surgery resulting from that injury sustained during filming in Jamaica. Production, which only kicked off a few weeks ago, will continue whilst Craig is rehabilitating for two weeks post-surgery.
In the new film Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help.
The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.
Ralph Fiennes, Lea Seydoux, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen, Ana De Arma, David Dencik, Lashana Lynch and Rami Malek star.
Cary Joji Fukunaga directs the film which features a script written by Fukunaga, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, Scott Z. Burns and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The biggest block of filming takes place at Pinewood Studios in the UK.
The producers have made it clear that despite the injury, the film remains on track for the same release date in April 2020.
