Chinese Defense Minister arrives in Sri Lanka

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The State Councilor and Minister of Defense of China General Chang Wanquan arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday for a three-day official visit at the invitation of Ministry of Defense of Sri Lanka, the Chinese Embassy in Colombo said.

During the visit, General Chang, leading a 21-member delegation, will meet President Maithripala Sirisena, the State Minister of Defense Ruwan Wijewardene, and Secretary of Defense Karunasena Hettiarachchi.

The Chinese Defense Ministry said the purpose of the visit to Sri Lanka is to strengthen military ties with Colombo.
