Government must refrain from interfering- FMM

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Free Media Movement requests the government to refrain from interfering and trying to control the content broadcasted by media.

Issuing a statement the Free Media Movement said that in collaboration with the media personnel of the country, the government must introduce a code of ethics.

The statement also said that when reporting information in connection to investigations of the Easter Sunday attacks, local media institutions must maintain a code of ethics and strict discipline.

However, adding that they are not satisfied with the current involvement of the government in this regard.

Meanwhile issuing a statement yesterday, the government media division refuted claims as to implementing any form of media censor.
