13% turnout in Western Province schools yesterday

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Education says academic activities at schools are gradually returning to normalcy.

Issuing a statement the Ministry said a significant increase was witnessed in the number of students who were present at schools yesterday.

The highest turnout of 60% at schools was recorded in the Northern Province.

A 44.4% attendance was recorded in the Uva Province while a 30% turnout was reported from the Eastern, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and the North Central Provinces.

However schools in the Western Province recorded only a 13% turnout.

The Ministry of Education said the turnover yesterday was higher than the previous two days.

In the North Western Province a 20.4% attendance was recorded.
