David Goyer to pen a “Hellraiser” reboot

(UTV|COLOMBO) – David S. Goyer (“Man of Steel,” “Blade: Trinity”) is set to both write and produce a re-imagining of Clive Barker’s “Hellraiser” for Spyglass Media Group.

Released in 1987, Barker helmed the feature adaptation of his own novella “The Hellbound Heart” which follows an unfaithful wife who attempts to assist her dead lover in his escape from hell. The film introduced viewers to a race of demons called Cenobites, including the iconic Pinhead who is summoned using an antique puzzle box.

Spyglass will finance, develop and fast track the film for worldwide theatrical distribution. Keith Levine will produce. Goyer is also showrunning the “Foundation” TV series adaptation at Apple.
