Sundance hit “Infiltrators” becomes a series

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Blumhouse Television has optioned “The Infiltrators,” a 2019 Sundance award-winning documentary-narrative film with plans to turn it into a scripted series.

Jenniffer Gomez (“Black Sails,” “Vida”) will write and produce the adaptation of Alex Rivera and Cristina Ibarra’s critically acclaimed film which took multiple prizes in the NEXT category.

Blending real-time documentary footage and dramatic reconstructions, the true story tale follows three young undocumented immigrants who, in 2012, embarked on a high-risk mission to infiltrate a secretive for-profit detention center.

Voluntarily surrendering their freedom, they went into detention to uncover cases of abuse and help other detainees eventually get free. Rivera and Ibarra are attached to executive produce.
