Archbishop requests Govt. to close all liquor shops in Negombo

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith on Monday (06) requested the Government to close all liquor shops, bars, taverns, and wine stores in Negombo.

The Archbishop visited Poruthota in Negombo this morning, in the aftermath of what transpired at the area, where a tense situation was erupted between two groups.

The curfew was imposed to prevent an escalation of a clash between two groups of three-wheel drivers in Poruthota in Negombo.

Following the tense situation, curfew was imposed in the Negombo Police Zone to bring the situation under control.
